MEET THE ARTIST

ABOUT ALONA
My name is Alona Miller and I am a 21-year-old self-taught artist from Shaker Heights, Ohio. I have had a passion for art ever since I could hold a pencil. As a toddler, my mom used to keep me occupied with a sketch pad while running errands, and my love for drawing simply blossomed from there. It is my dream to turn my art into a life-long and fulfilling career.

ABOUT MY ART
I have many sources of inspiration: nature, humans, the world, my dreams, and my mental health. A lot of my pieces have some sort of meaning behind them, hinted at through the titles, many of which represent specific experiences of my life. Other times, my works are the result of spur of the moment inspiration, where the story lies in the physical art process and my thoughts and state of mind in the moment of creating.
Though they appear diverse in medium and subject matter, what remains consistent within all of my works are depictions of beauty. Sometimes I struggle with anxiety, depression, and thoughts of negativity so I subvert these emotions by painting or drawing vibrant, colorful, and intricate pieces, while also creating a space for myself and others to acknowledge these feelings.
I hope that my creations can be a source of inspiration, not only to pursue one's passions, but also serve a glimmer of beauty and optimism in a world that can feel extremely bleak.
